The 28th Annual Longest Causeway Run & Fitness Walk was held Saturday, Jan. 14 with perfect weather conditions and a record registration of over 1,800 runners and a total of 4,411 participants who took part in this 10k tradition. Runners and walkers left Yturria and Houston St. at 10 a.m. and 10:15 a.m. and followed a course over the 2.6 mile Queen Isabella Causeway, over the Laguna Madre Bay, on to South Padre Island. The top three winners in the male category where Benjamin Kiplimo (30:58), Sammy Kiplagat (31:32), and Stephen Tanui (32:45). The top three winners in the female category where Lucy Kurgat (35:46), Leah Kigen (37:18) and Liza Hunter (37:38).
