Officials here have a hefty slate of meetings, and some scheduled levity, leading up to the Thanksgiving holidays.

Laguna Vista Town Council, Parks Board, and the Planning and Zoning Commission calendars are booked for the coming weeks, highlighting proposals for a three-year capital improvements plan, major park improvements, and a new zoning map.

Major renovations and upgrades to Roloff Park and a new walking trail/park will be discussed at an Oct. 25 parks board meeting, in anticipation of a joint workshop session with the town council on Nov. 1. The Oct. 25 meeting is designed to allow parks’ board members to streamline concepts and proposals to prepare for a presentation to the town’s elected officials on Nov. 1. Both sessions are scheduled at 6 p.m. on their respective dates at City Hall, 122 Fernandez St.

The town officials will take a breather from its business datebook on Friday, Nov. 11 to observe Veterans Day ceremonies at Veterans Park off of FM 510. Events begin at 4:30 p.m. Residents are invited to participate in the ceremony to pay tribute to the men and women who have served in the military service to protect the liberties Americans have today.
