It was another good outing for the Port Isabel High powerlifters on Saturday.  They were in Brownsville for the second meet of the season, this time at Lopez High School.

There was one medalist and that was John Ray Martinez in the 198-pound class.  He placed 4th in his division with a total lift of 1,350 pounds.  The top five finishers in each weight class are awarded medals.

“We had a lot of girls place 6th and a lot of boys placed in the top 10,” powerlifting head coach Victor Rubalcaba told the Press.  “They all improved from last week.  They’re starting to get those competitive juices going.  That’s the main thing – you want to see improvement every week.”
