It was a packed house inside the Port Isabel High School gym last Wednesday evening as hundreds of local residents turned out to partake in some good food and good fun. It was all part of the 8th Annual Feast of Sharing, sponsored by HEB, and hosted in partnership with the Point Isabel Independent School District and the City of Port Isabel.

“This is a wonderful community event that, for many people, kicks off the holiday season,” said Dr. Lisa Garcia, superintendent of schools, above the din of the happy crowd.

The Feast features a traditional Thanksgiving turkey dinner, complete with all the trimmings: stuffing with gravy, mashed potatoes, green beans, cranberry sauce, a dinner roll and a slice of pumpkin pie. All are welcome to enjoy the meal, free of charge, Dr. Garcia explained.

“The meal is sponsored by HEB and the food service department Point Isabel ISD prepares all the food,” she said.
