The Port Isabel Tarpons trailed early, then turned it on in the second half to beat the Progreso Red Ants, 58-42, Monday night in the final district game of the season.
They enter the 2019 post-season playoffs as the second seed from District 32-4A for the second year in a row.
Port Isabel will play Sinton in a first-round playoff game next Tuesday, Feb. 19 at Alice. Sinton finished in a tie for second place in District 31-4A and will go in as the third seed from that district after a coin flip. The Pirates finished district play with a 10-4 record and were 24-10 overall. Port Isabel’s game will be the second game of a bi-district double-header.
